[ABSTRACT] In collaboration with Peak Season short term rentals and development group, Crotty Architecture Studio is designing a series of cabins to be constructed in the Blue Ridge Mountain range of Western North Carolina for individuals and families seeking a rural mountain getaway. Architecture and Interior Design are to be integrated holistically in these 400 sqft dwellings, mindfully blending interior and exterior nature-immersed experiences. The materiality of the cabins will respond to the local geology, flora, and fauna to decrease carbon footprint and create intimacy between the land and the cottages’ visitors. Furnishings and decorative items shall be sourced from local artisans and craftsmen, and nature-oriented programming shall be led by local guides. The mission of the site is to create unforgettable vacations by immersing visitors directly into the beauty of the Appalachia by means of thoughtful design, while simultaneously building program that extends opportunity to the local community.
