[ABSTRACT] Micro-housing is a hot topic in the current world of architecture due to influxes in living costs as well as excess land use caused by urban sprawl. Miami 21 Zoning Code currently states a surprisingly small number of allowable micro units per building, so this conceptual project tests the limits of how many possible micro-units could comfortably fit in a five story mixed-use building. The residential units exist on the third and fifth floors allowing the first floor to contain commercial storefronts to harmonize with its neighbors in this urban shopping node. that adheres to the outdoor enjoyment and walk-ability of the area. The shifting geometries per story create roof top patios and central courtyard for maximum resident enjoyment above the streets. The final design fits a total of 94 comfortable units, whereas the zoning code limits the architect to a low 42 units.
